San Francisco weddings range from small civil ceremonies at city landmarks to larger celebrations in the Presidio, waterfront spaces and nearby Bay Area venues. Clients here are often comparing you with other creative professionals, which makes a polished album an appealing add-on. This guide is for San Francisco, California photographers who want a repeatable album workflow.
Understand the Bay Area client
Plan for a client who is short on time. A clear timeline, a single easy review round and a finished product that looks considered will do more for you than a long menu of choices. Presentation matters here, so put the same care into how you show the album as into the album itself.
City Hall civil ceremonies are a staple of this market, and those clients may not want a 40-spread book. Offering a compact album or a magazine gives them something that fits the scale of their day.
San Francisco's weather is famously changeable: summer fog can sit over the western half of the city in the morning and push back in by late afternoon, while September and October bring the clearest, warmest days of the year. Clients worry about this, so show them how fog and soft light create moody, elegant images. A few sample spreads built from overcast frames can reassure them and sell the album at the same time.
Packages that make room for albums
Include albums in your highest-tier collections and present them as an option in the rest. Show a finished book in consultations so clients can feel the paper and see lay-flat pages open. We do not sell a sample kit yet, so the practical route is to order a copy of a past client's album at the standard price.
A magazine at $70 for 20 pages is a good entry-level product for small ceremonies, and a smart add-on for parents who live elsewhere. Pair it with an album for clients who want both an heirloom and something easy to share.
Do not overlook civil ceremonies at city landmarks. A City Hall ceremony is short, which leaves hours for portraits around the city. That structure suits a compact album built around neighborhood walks, skyline views and street scenes, and it is easy to price as a complete package.
A design process that respects your time
Upload your culled gallery to Folio Forever's online designer, let Smart Auto-Layout draft each spread, then edit for pacing and story. Preview the result with your client, gather feedback in one round and finalize. The tool is designed so photographers can handle client albums without separate design software.
During busy wedding seasons, the optional design-team polish hand-off at $99 can finish an album while you keep final approval. You still review every page before printing, so the work stays aligned with your style.
Pricing reference
Base prices include fifteen spreads and a photo cover. Classic 12x24 and 16x24 start at $240, lay-flat at $275. A 15x30 is $300 classic and $335 lay-flat, and a 20x30 is $340 classic and $375 lay-flat. Extra spreads are $8 to $18 each, up to 40 spreads in total.
Leather covers add $25 and acrylic covers add $39. Set your own retail prices to reflect your time, expertise and brand, and quote one clear package price rather than an itemized list that invites line-by-line negotiation. The photographers page covers using the online designer for client work. A dedicated trade program is not open yet, so for now you order at the prices above and set your own client pricing.
A simple way to protect your margin is to price based on total value, not on the base product cost. Consider your time shooting, culling, designing and consulting, then add the product cost. That gives you a number that reflects your expertise and keeps album sales profitable.
Delivery, shipping and follow-up
Printing takes five to seven business days after approval and payment. Delivery options are Express at $60, Standard at $32 and Economy at $12, and every order ships with tracking. If a book arrives with a print or binding defect, transit damage, or anything that does not match the approved proof, report it within 14 days of delivery for a free reprint or a full refund.
After delivery, send a note asking how the album was received and whether parents might want a copy. That one email is the cheapest route to parent copies and referrals you will find.
For holiday gifting, work backwards from a fixed timeline: five to seven business days of printing, plus the delivery window the client chooses. Publish the resulting approval cutoff in your client communications, so nobody is waiting on you in late December.
Questions
Can I use the designer for my clients' albums?
Yes. The photographers page explains how to design client albums online. A separate trade program is still in development, so you order at the standard prices and set your own client pricing.
What if clients want changes?
You can edit pages and share a new preview. Nothing prints until every page is approved.
